There are four tasks that are being researched as part of WP6
Task 6.1
Will map the manufacturing supply chain configurations of high value films, informed by data input from WP1-WP4, partners and the literature.
Task 6.2
Will compute and compare the environmental and economic sustainability performance of these manufacturing supply chain configurations and assess their resilience and reliance on materials supply, using LCA (ISO14040) and TEA methodologies.
Task 6.3
Will analyse the energy efficiency of these manufacturing supply chain configurations, capturing the energy requirements in each process across the system to consider future design towards a net-zero manufacturing supply chain.
Task 6.4
Will further optimise the carbon cost through integration of data from the responsive manufacturing pilot scale tests (WP5) so as to obtain effective production-related data. Data will be fed back to WP1-4 to support additional process runs, continuously optimising the ML model and sensor algorithms. T6.4 will return results to WP5 to optimise environmental and economic criteria via results from T6.1-T6.3. The proposed LCA will be conducted with a hybrid LCA methodology combining process based and input-output methods. SCEnATi suites + SimaPro will be used for life cycle assessment to enable supply chain configuration mapping, carbon cost calculation and environmental sustainability performance assessment. Aspen Plus will be used to model the responsive manufacturing process and to calculate the capital and operating costs. Data input from WP1- WP5, data from literature and databases including Ecoinvent will also be used in these analyses.
